Ever wonder where you can join an archaeological excavation? Do you want to learn what archaeology is in the real world?
At the Bodo Archaeological Site and Centre, you have the opportunity to join an active archeology dig. The Adult Dig Camps allow members of the public to get dirty and have hands-on fieldwork experience, regardless of whether you’ve studied archaeology all your life or have just watched Indiana Jones once.
Participants will get a crash course in archaeological excavation methods and then work alongside professional archaeologists and students to uncover the history hidden under the sand. Volunteer day runs from 9:00 to 4:00 and includes travel from and back to the Interpretive Centre to the site on the Bodo bus, and all needed tools and equipment are provided.
All participants will be required to complete a Volunteer Liability Waiver Form and a Photography Waiver Form. Minimum age of participation is 16. Each day will run from 9 am to 4 pm, with an hour for lunch (provided) back at the centre.
