As our world becomes more and more busy and full, more and more people want to step back from it all and be able to view the stars at night. At Bodo, experience the majesty of the dark sky and be treated to views like the Milky Way, constellations, majestic meteor showers, and maybe even the Northern Lights. Ages 10+, with ages 10-16 requiring adult supervision.
NEW 2026 – STARGAZING TOURS
August 12, 13, and 14, we will be hosting stargazing tours at the Bodo Archaeological Site & Centre. During these nights, the sky will be quite active, with a partial solar eclipse during the day, the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower the morning of the, and a new moon to make the sky extra dark. Twenty $100 tickets are available for each night.
Joining us will be Elder Bill Bertschy (Chief Standing Bear Elder) of Rising Thunder Tourism, who will be sharing some of the wisdom and teachings of our beautiful celestial world. You’ll learn new perspectives on familiar constellations, the stories of mythology woven into tradition, and how to begin to read the map of the stars.
Starting before sunset, we will spend some time at the Bodo Archaeological Interpretive Centre learning about the archaeology and Indigenous history of the area, before heading once it’s dark out in our bus to be away from any streetlights. Once on location, prepare for several hours of stargazing and learning about the stars from an Indigenous perspective.
Snacks and hot drinks will be provided. Be prepared for a late night!
